HISTORICAL RESTORATION
A closer look inside the Federal historical restoration in the heart of the downtown Albany New York.

Reflections
In order to ensure both historical accuracy and a traditional appearance for our project, we couldn't simply use any Bluestone available. We searched extensively within a 75-mile radius of Albany, exploring every small-scale quarry, until we stumbled upon the most exquisite Bluestone vein, hidden away in the mountains at New York Quarries. During our visit, we were educated on the rich history and geology of the quarry. This Bluestone has become one of our favorite materials to work with, and we have revisited the quarry almost every year for more Bluestone. We have found that working with anything less than the best Bluestone always leaves us wanting more. We would like to express our gratitude to Nancy for providing us with this exceptional stone and for her assistance on numerous Artisan Stone Nursery projects.
Reflections
Ensuring the longevity of our work is paramount, and we take our drainage solutions seriously. Upon assessing the previous masonry work, it was evident that water runoff had not been taken into consideration. In order to rectify this, we removed 24,000 pounds of material and installed a high-quality traditional drainage system. It is with great pride that we can report that, five years later, no stones have been displaced due to expansion and contraction.
